I'm currently at an inflection point in my career, and I'm considering relocation along with my job switch. I currently live in NYC, but after several years here, I'm seriously considering moving to Seattle.
I love the urban environment of NYC, but I'm so tired of living in the northeast. The winters are brutally cold, and there is absolutely no decent nature around (and if anyone says there's "good hiking" near NYC, they're a liar). I also don't really care for the things that people seek out in NYC. I'm not a big partier, I don't care for Broadway, and I go to 2 or 3 concerts a year.
Personally, I'm an avid hiker/backpacker and want to get into mountaineering. I really want a dog (something I think is somewhat cruel to do in NYC) and I think the housing market in NYC is even more bleak than Seattle.
I know people love to shit on Seattle and praise NYC, but I just can't imagine being less happy in Seattle than I am in NYC. Am I insane?
