I moved back to China to spend more time with my parents but I realized that I preferred life in the US and working for my current company was boring.
So, I'm thinking of quitting my current company to start job hunting in the US.(I have US citizenship)

In terms of engineer job search, Is it concerning on 3~4 months' gap in my resume with 10 years' work experience(including tier 2 company)? Better to add 3~4 month's work experience to my resume?

  • Probably better to keep it. It’s short enough that it isn’t a negative signal and you’ve got a good story about it that actually shows good initiative if nothing else

I guess it depends, but I think most people's interpretation would be that it's a household name company that isn't Google/Facebook OR a more niche company that's prestigious in its own circle but not super well known outside of it. So something like say, Uber for scenario 1 and Jane Street for scenario 2.

Thanks. Did you mean either way would not matter much with 10 year's experience?

You're always more attractive to recruiters when you have a job vs interviewing when you don't have a job. You'll get better attention and offers. Same can be said about no gap vs gap.
