choosing Master School

Hi folks, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2019, and I have not been lucky in finding jobs. Thus I decided to go to graduate school. I have submitted some applications to some top engineering schools, and been waiting for decision, but at the meantime, I am wondering if I should apply for SJSU, to be safe. is master degree from SJSU (Computer Science) okay? Are these students popular to tech companies like Google, Airbnb, Stripe, etc? Thanks

Depends on your profile inclusive of gre , TOEFL and your undergrad background you will get admit to university. However, if your notion is just to get job then that's wrong attitude but I see 6/10 folks coming to master in that boat. So, with recent trend of mugging up leetcode irrespective of your school is quite popular and yes many folks from SJSU are in FAANG. So doesn't matter. Just focus on why you want masters, job or thesis or something more which can led you to research.

Thanks for the answer, but I just hope that a degree from SJSU would not hurt my chance of getting a job in the future when comparing to other candidates.

It won’t hurt your chances but it probably won’t help much either.

SJSU is a big feeder into Silicon Valley tech but don’t expect great on campus recruiting from FAANG — try to meet people to have referrals lined up. Also SJSU masters in CS is 95% desi, 5% East Asian international’s — so just be ready for that. Also living in Silicon Valley without a job will be tough if you aren’t already living there

Ah I see. Thanks for the information. I will wait and see if I can get admitted to any other schools. GATech and CMU-SV are on my list.
