Why conservatives didn’t create own tech ?

Jan 10, 2021 58 Comments

Seeing all outrage against AWS, Apple for taking down Parler. Also outrageous reactions to Twitter, Facebook etc from conservatives.

Why didn’t Conservatives create own tech in West Virginia, Mississippi, Tennessee?
In general, conservatives keep shouting free markets so who is stopping conservatives to create their own tech companies and servers ?

    • @uhWE56 -- "scorched earth cleansing of conservative media is necessary to stop racism"

Note that every social media platform at times has had trouble with extremists (racists, pedos, criminals). Targeting Parler is not derived from some hypothetical, objective measure of a platform's tendency to harm society. Rather it's clearly a leftist power move, and you're being a useful idiot.

Branding everyone who doesn't think like you as "racist" isn't going to improve society, even if it makes you feel righteous at the moment.

Branding legitimate application of terms of service as a power move makes you a moron. But you’re probably a moron in other ways already so it’s par for the course

Don’t like Twitter? Make your own (Parler)
Don’t like Apple and Google shutting it down? Use a browser!
Don’t like AWS removing your hosting? Host it yourself
Don’t like ISPs and L1 networks blocking you? Make your own land lines!
Don’t like payment providers shutting you out? Make your own pay solution!

At every step, the monopolistic companies in power in conjunction with government collusion block each move that could generate competitors. This is in no way a ”free market “

Democrats think this (crony capitalism, collusion, monopoly, antitrust behavior) is just fine as long as it serves their interests.

At some point people wake up to the opposition and outright war that is being waged and will wage their own.

    • @BackToWork - I relate to an extent with your argument. But I would suggest that there is some arbitrary threshold of being excluded, above which someone's livelihood is is hindered. e.g. being deplatformed, socially and financially (stripe), can dramatically hurt your life trajectory.

By contrast, it's easy to get a cake elsewhere. I don't agree with the baker, but this is really a small issue (thankfully).

Tech companies know it's bad pr NOT aligning with leftists. Many ppl are happy with the bans. Ironically left policies are against monopoly tech but in this case it's working in their favor so they egg it on.

    • Antifa is recognized in Germany, where it stems from, and the rest of Europe by governments as a terrorist group. They do the same thing here in Europe as in the USA but the Americans are so afraid of them and let them take over whereas the Europeans aren't. BLM doesn't have the guts yet to come over to Europe and start a revolution for a similar reason - people think they are political extremists.

Can you post a source where Antifa is recognized as a terrorist group? Interested as I couldn’t find it.
