compensation differences by industries?
Do we know of common patterns between sde/pm compensation between different tech industries
i.e:
e-commerce (wish), electronics/hardware (sonos/tesla), consumer service (spotify/netflix), social media/ads (twitter/facebook), b2b saas (stripe), data/developer (databricks), cloud paas/iaas (digital ocean), niche (weaveworks/hashicorp), etc?
the order above is roughly what i think is the least to the most technical or "close to software developer". note this is in the view of swe, not hwe. in Blind world i'd say most of the companies above would be considered pretty well regarded tech companies.
i've purposely left the big tech companies that are dominant players in many industries i.e google/amazon/msft/etc
I know it's hard to categorize since most tech companies straddle and there's probably a countable infinite of different industries but can we suss out a general pattern? i.e do companies that do more recurring subscription services (i.e spotify) pay more than b2b (stripe)...I know this isn't true but just an example. :)
