Got two offers as new grad. One is Amazon, the other is Walmart. Walmart’s TC is around 20%(around $30k every year for the first 4 years on average) more than Amazon. And I know the team which i would be joining at Walmart, it looks interesting. As for the team in Amazon. it basiclly a lottery since it is campus recuriting Seems like the only reason to join Amazon is its reputation(not a big fan of 🍌). But is it worth it to walk away from 20% of TC for reputation? Any idea would be helpful. TC: none for now Updated: Amazon is located in VA, HQ2. with TC around $145k on average in the first four years Walmart is located in NJ. With TC around $175k
What does 20% mean in $ terms? If it's a diff of 50k$.. then it's a different question vs a diff of 10k$ per year

I would go for Walmart.. if it's Walmart labs. Amazon will suck the life out of you.

I’m assuming you’ve tried to use the Walmart offer to negotiate with Amazon? I’d insist I’d really like to work for them but need to be financially responsible or such.
Have been told that Amazon don’t negotiate new grad offer.
If you’re after reputation, you need to LC more to get to Albertsons.
If Amazon is in Seattle then tax +col make that difference up
It would be nice if they give me Seattle. But no. I was offered at HQ2 in VA. With exactly same package as my friends who go to Seattle. And since there is around 6% state income tax in VA. I actually feels like being low balled.

Take Amazon, build resume early which you don't need the money as much. You can then leave to Walmart or anywhere else later on even better terms.
