i am tired of giving interviews studying need a break. but i need to find a new job with a couple months due to some personal reason. i cry when i am alone. i don't want this to take a toll on my health . what can i do keep myself healthy under thia circumstances .
Stress isn't as a result of your circumstances it's as a result of how your mind reacts to it. Just take it easy and enjoy the little things in life then you'll have lots of mini breaks throuhout the day.
Leave this industry. Go wait tables. See if your mind settles out there. Determine what stress threshold you want or can handle in your life
I am on visa.
I hear you. Same position 😪
1) notice breathing.. anxiety begets shallow breathing and in turn tends to make us more anxious. Check yourself when you are feeling tense and take some slow deep breaths. 2) meditation. Start GLNG to a zendo. 40 minutes of wallfacing is really hard at first, but keep showing up and you will get there. This investment will take a week or three to start to pay off. Consistency is essential. Try guided meditation app like Calm if you have never meditated maybe. 3) Make sure you set a regular sleep schedule and practice good sleep hygiene (**no** screens or eating an hour or two before bed) 4) regular eating. Don’t get hungry , increases anxiety. Have decent meals and don’t skip. Try to avoid comfort eating. Just don’t eat if you do not actually feel hungry. 5) regular exercise. If you do not belong to a gym and can’t afford the Y, then just take a half hour brisk walk or jog if you are in better shape daily. A 15 minute walk is also a good stress reliever (and a workout even better) . If you do have gym access, go every day, even if just for s while
Thanks a lot. I am going to follow this. Thank you
Another minor thing I would add is take Magnesium Glycinate off Amazon - relaxes your muscles, doesn't make you tired, non laxative (unlike Magnesium Citrate) and good absorption (unlike magnesium oxidate). It actually works for me with compulsive fidgeting that often accompanies anxiety.
If you don't have AIDS, you don't truly know what it's like to be "Under Pressure"
1. Stop interviewing and start leetcoding. Don't get up until you did 300-500 letcode. Prepare for design interviews. You need to know what the interviewer want to hear. 2. You should not have too many interviews. 3-5 tops, but at the best companies, which want you. 3. You should be ready to get 2-3 real meaningful offers. Good luck.
I tried to interview recently handling the stress at work too and it took a toll on my health. See if any of your friends' teams at other companies are hiring. I've seen connections help a lot to get hired at Oracle or Microsoft (easier interviews). If changing teams within eBay or PayPal an option? Is location change internally an option? The following suggestion is only if you are sure you want to leave. Take a month off just for preparing and interviewing. Give reasons at work like you're going on a vacation or some health issue. You can even be honest if you have good relations with your manager and if he understands your situation. The things I suggested are mainly for a situation where you are stressed because you are not able to balance work, interviews and their prep together.
Thanks for your advice. I am trying what I can like changing teams but unfortunately there is some kind of freeze in the orgs i can move. Sometime i feel such things will happen only when one needs it.
In addition to the self care suggestions above, do you have friends or a community around you? It sounds like you need support. Do you talk with friends and family from back home? Have you made friends here? If your job sucks and work is your whole world it will make you miserable.
Yeah i do have good set frnds here but i hardly share these things with them... I used to share with my mom but recently hv reduced thinking she ll get worried too..
It's natural to withdraw when feeling overwhelmed and it feels safer to do so, but with chronic workplace stress it can help to open up a little bit, vent, and do fun things with people you care about as a counter balance.
Meditation will help
