Manager told me she heard a bad story X about me from a teammate, but that story is quite the contrary to what I did. I explained what happened and sent her all the relevant emails. I was very upset, and I am wondering if
1. I should start looking to change teams
2. I should send an email to the team to tell what really happened. I have a good feeling about who might tell that story, but I don’t want to do name calling
The manager is new though

2. No
You can judge based on the tone of the conversation, but it could have easily been fact finding rather than having their mind made up. Either way, your coworker sucks if they didn’t come to you first.
I have been in the situation, it never ends well. Not only your manager will have suspicions about you forever, but also the person probably don’t like you much and may give you bad feedback later.
Evaluate if the colleague is higher level, and how much do you stand against them.
