I know why Intel is doomed

Jan 5, 2021 163 Comments

I am working with Intel in R&D customer support and Intel guys are putting all work on us. I am a R&D HW engineer and they are asking us to complete the design for them in tight schedule, which is like 4 person work on every guy here. Manager is non responsive to concern.

All people still left in Intel are there just not to work and coast to better opportunity. I dont see technical expertise or even intent. Thats why Intel is doomed to fail.

I hope you guys become next DEC/IBM๐Ÿ˜‚

      @microVention-Terumo. Here's a quote of the OP:
      "Intel main focus is on diversity and inclusion, not getting their shit done"

      The OP didn't say that *some* of Intel's problem is due to D&I, it says that it's the *main* issue.

    Intel==delay, delay, delay, lame/no new products, non-sense/non-technical leaderships, low pay, bad culture, average talents, aged work force, inability to attract and retain young talents, no noticeable progress over the years, same story over over again, etc.

    • I interviewed at Intel a month ago and withdrew my application after the second round - culture seemed super unpleasant and toxic.

      Lol! Funny thing is young โ€œnoโ€ talent joins! Later they find out they can do better and also leave for higher TC to other companies.

    I have worked with your AEs here and at previous companies. Most laid-back bunch of idiots! Learn something from Cadence. They have a great support team

      > we had to wait weeks because the support engineer is in vacation and resulting is delays..

      Random guy here. Donโ€™t know anything about this conflict, but it seems like Intelโ€™s statement above shows that Intel is at fault here. If they know the Synopsis engineer is on vacation, why are they just sitting on their asses waiting for him to get back and delaying it?

      Why not find someone else or just do it yourself? Blaming others for your delays and problems is the attitude of a losing team.

    10 years ago I was just walking to my eye doctor for an appointment and happened to spot a USB drive laying in a ditch. I picked it up. And then took it home for inspection. The drive was full of confidential Intel documents and designs. Completely unencrypted. Iโ€™m not a HW guy so I didnโ€™t fully understand what I was looking at. But I had until a few days earlier worked for a competitor. Such carelessness.

    Everyone at Intel's silicon valley office is jumping ship to other companies whereas the vast majority of their US workforce in Oregon Arizona and greater Sacramento have nowhere else to go so you end up with a lot of dead weight, coasters, and B,C players.

      Who said they need to accommodate all of them. They can pick and choose very carefully and never worry about running out of candidates.

      Of course they can. It wasn't the point feef made. She/he literally said that the majority of the Intel's workforce has nowhere else to go. Careful choice of candidates from Intel's pool doesn't counter that.
