Jul 31, 2021 7 Comments

Can folks share what a typical total compensation for a hot pre-ipo company might look like for VP of Product Management role in SF/Bay Area?

Please share base, bonus, Stock and Sign-on.

Some examples of companies (some of them just ipo’d) are #stripe #coinbase #robinhood #plaid #roblox #nextdoor

I’ve recruited VPs of product for earlier stage companies, but later stage offers will probably look something like this:

    Cash - $250k
    Bonus - $50k
    Equity - 0.25% - 0.50%
    Total Equity Gross Value - $1.5M - $2M

  • These are the types of posts I love. The person comes to Blind which is heavily skewed towards L4/L5 SWE’s asking about the specific comp breakdown of a VP of Product role at some of the best companies in the valley with the Total Comp of an L6 at Coinbase 🤦🏼‍♂️

  • @rthlawd - How do you know it’s L6 comp? OP said it’s $600K+, so could be $1M too. Atlassian stock went up by 20% just last Friday, so many senior folks would likely be making close to $1M (I know this because I am one of them). Never assume things without knowing. You should focus on working on meaningful things to move your stock price up and not try to come up with responses that add no value.

Btw there are ton of my friends in Dir/VP roles that use blind.
