I got an offer from twitch. The recruiter tries to convince me to start before Oct 1 and said it would allow me to be eligible for the merit salary raise next year. But the base they offered me is already close to the limit. Would the company raise the bonus in that case? Another concern is that joining before 10/1 would also mean that I will run into the performance review. It may be stressful for me to get onboard and deliver in such a short time. If I skip this review cycle, I am more confident to earn a good review and it may be good for my career. On the other hand, I heard that twitch is relatively more friendly than Amazon in terms of performance review. So maybe I shouldn't be worried.
What do you suggest? Shall I start earlier than Oct 1?

All of this to say, start when you think you are ready to start. If you start in October you better hit the ground running as reviews are in January. And all managers just remember what you did in December.
