I’m a PM at T for about 6 months now. I have 2 yoe as a pm and other 2 as a data scientist. I graduated from a top tier university but majored in Statistics. Although I took a couple of CS classes and used programming languages (R & Python) throughout my career, I don’t have any experience as a SWE.
Are DS career and stat major also considered as technical background?
Also, I want to break into FAANGMULA+ companies before I’m 30. Can you guys give me some advice on the career decisions considering my goal? Like should I look for other opportunities now bc T is not enough on my resume? I’ve heard that getting into FAANGMULA+ as a pm is really tough so I was wondering how you got into PM at big tech and what advice you would give me who don’t have much experience and less technical background.
Give me some advice, sensei!

The best way to practice interviewing is to interview. Take advantage of remote interviews while you can and internalize rejection as a learning experience not that you aren’t qualified.
While I don’t have one, a top tier MBA can make it easier to get into big tech through MBA intern programs that feed into L4+ offers pending previous experience.
Also you have 4+ years of exp and you think people care about your university experience?
