I attended Facebook phone screen couple
of months back, it was totally 2 rounds which went really well according to me. Recruiter gave me a call after the 2nd phone screen and mentioned that the HM would like to talk to me and that too the same day. I agreed and I had a bluejeans call with the HM the same day which went ok.

I didnt hear back from the recruiter for the next couple of days and I was confident that I would get an onsite. To my surprise I got an email 4 days after my conversation with the HM that they decided not to move forward. I was shocked to say the least.

Fast Forward 2 months, to my surpirse I got an email from the same HM that they would want to consider me for a role in their org. The email doesnt have any reference to our earlier conversation. I am
puzzled on how to handle this. Any pointers would really help. Should I mention about our earlier conversation and the rejection or should I take this forward as a new track.

  • Same thing happened to me at Facebook. The recruiters are pretty organized and should know that you’ve already interviewed for a previous role. If they ask, answer honestly. Otherwise I would say there is no need to mention it.

Thanks for the info. Did you go through the phone screen 2nd time around or how was the interview process 2nd time ?

    • Yeah, similar situation to the first interview. Phone screen with recruiter. Short video interview with hiring manager. Then video interview with the larger team.

The recruiter or other people team member should be guiding you through the entire process and give you and idea of what to expect/prepare for.

  • I thought you had to go through the whole loop and bootcamp before picking a team. Is this SWE? Am I missing something?
