That singapore offer is wonderful. Singapore's income tax is very low so from financial standpoint Singapore wins hands down.

Stay in Netherlands. Or try Berlin. Is delivery hero offering blue card? Or a normal work permit? What’s your long term plan.

Germany by default only allows a single citizenship (with some exceptions for Europe), so you will have to renounce your Indian citizenship.

I lived in Berlin. Weather sucked 9 months out of the year. Lots of crime and the city has a permanent underbelly. Plus side is it’s impossible to get fired working in Germany, you can do absolutely nothing all day and they can’t get rid of you. Negative is taxes unbelievably high and welfare state creates a really lazy population. If you were single I’d say move to Berlin, it’s really easy to make friends as there’s a big transient population. But with a family it’s not a good place to be.

You should include this is only applies after passing probation. You can be easily fired during probation.

  • If u value work life balance, don’t go to Singapore. If you are willing to work as hard as necessary for max money, choose Singapore. There’s a type of people who enjoy being in sg and it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. You have to love a very fast paced life, working very hard, deal with fair amount of office politics and in return you get ridiculously low taxes and a lot of money. You also have a very good shot at accumulating wealth, which is impossible in Germany. You have a relaxing life in Germany but without old money you’re never going to buy property and accumulate capital or wealth with salary alone.

Is the WLB in Singapore influenced by the Indian /Chinese work ethic? I know sg is big on finance, is it equally promising for tech?
      Feb 23, 2021
    • I think the work ethic is not as insane as China and India, it’s just something that’s always been there. For the second question, it depends. It’s better than many countries but can’t really rival Bay Area though many companies are starting to set up offices in APAC.
