Hello! I’m relocating to Seattle and I’m looking for apartments to rent. Would anyone please share some info on nice apartments around Seattle? Our office is in Downtown in the Business District.

My budget is about 2.5-3k for a 1bed 800-900 sqft.

Im looking for a nice area that is near some night life, groceries, restaurants, etc. also I’m hoping to have a short commute to work as I plan to go 3-4 times a week.

I have below shortlisted:

Capitol Hill

Pros
- cool area for nightlife
- tons of restaurants
- less homeless
- has character

Cons
- older buildings
- bit farther from work (20-25min walk)

Downtown (business district/belltown)

Pros
- close to work (can walk 10 mins. Even found one that is right in front of work)
- nicer and newer buildings
- close to shopping, markets, groceries

Cons
- homeless population
- seems boring/dead according to my research
- 20-25 min walk to Capitol Hill if I want to go for bars etc

SLU

Pros
- nice area with nice buildings
- close-ish to both work and Capitol Hill
- a lot more apartment buildings to choose from

Cons
- dead area
- more expensive than the two above

I decided to not look into Ballard/Fremont yet because of the commute. Is there anything that I missed? Can anyone recommend specific apartment buildings?

Thanks!!

I lived in downtown last year and hated it. Capitol Hill is where it is at.
The way I look at it is I know I will go to work no matter what, but if it's a 25 minute walk to meet up with friends I might not. Hell I might not even be invited. I've noticed living in capital Hill a lot of the people I was only kind of friends with before, now invite me to do way more stuff just because now I'm nearby. I guess they assumed I wouldn't come before.

If it is close to Amazon then it’s close to homeless.

I lived in Belltown last year but moved out due to aggressive transients. Less than Cap Hill but not much better. I’m in the Ballard area now which I like a lot more. Fremont is great too, but the cons are that these areas are farther from downtown. Honestly no matter where you live in Seattle you’re not going to get away from homelessness.

Honestly I’m not too worried about it. Just one of the things I’m taking into account. Is there a specific apartment building in Belltown that you recommend?

Why don't you consider First Hill? It's literally right in the middle of Cap Hill and downtown, and seems nice.

I'm in SLU/Belltown area - it's decent but nothing special. I liked living in Cap Hill better as I like eating out, grabbing coffee and doing takeout, etc.
