Travel ban possibility with Omicron variant

Many folks traveled to India after US removed the travel ban restrictions on Nov 8. In the last couple of days the new variant Omicron has been making news in several countries. What is the plan for people who already traveled back to India given there is a good chance for lockdown and travel ban again? This might happen anytime soon if US starts seeing massive increase in cases.

Can already see all the weddings being canceled or being private affairs.
India, I would be happy to take a break (obviously without pay) and rest in India for sometime lol
