Does the top 1% at Fb or google get paid more?

I'm talking people who get compensated much more than the normal annual refreshers.

Do you know of any numbers? For example, how high can level 5+ total comp (salary, bonus, and annual stock) go?

I'll start it out, I've heard of someone making 500k at FB as a E5 because they got extra equity.

  • Of course, why would a company not pay its top performers? The "max" comp anywhere is simply what you are able to negotiate. Employees gained through acquisition may also have significantly higher comp based on prior equity ownership.

At a high level ML is fitting a curve to data points, how is this so revolutionary is beyond me. Mathematicians have been doing it for centuries and have never imagined that curve fitting would lead to conscious machines and all that crap.

Depends on the definition of "paid". If you mean w2 earning then that can go way up if outstanding grants increase in value due to stock price increases.
