I'm extremely fortunate to have received two amazing internship offers + I'm in the final stage at G, but am trying to weigh FT return offers, summer internship experience, and what's best long term for me. I'd love any input if any of you guys have worked here. Akuna Capital - Python Dev Intern * TC: $65/hr + corp housing * Location: Chicago, maybe remote * The work looks the most exciting and it's a smaller company, so I feel like I might have more of an impact. However, reviews about WLB/culture aren't great. But I'm looking for new opportunities, that's why I was thinking about a prop shop. Google - SWE Intern (currently in return project matching) * TC: $43/hr + $9000 stipend (don't have firm offer yet, but this was last year) * Location: Remote * It's guaranteed to be an open source project, and I did this last year so I'm not sure how interesting it will be. I'd rather work here full time, though. Microsoft - SWE Intern * TC: $42/hr + corp housing/$7000 housing * Location: Seattle, maybe remote * Don't know too much about the project yet, so I can't say much about it. #tech #internship
I know it’s hard to believe me but TC don’t matter squat for internship. It depends where you wanna work. It’s all anecdotal and luck too, you can get a shit team at MSFT like a lot of my friends have and get fucked. If you want no stress over getting a FT offer to MSFT.
If you want to work at Google, take the Google internship.
Obviously Akuna, and it's not even close
Hey OP, any tips on how to get an internship? Looking for a summer 2021 opportunity. CS intended major Sophomore at a top school.
At Akuna, internship experience might be a lot different from the full time experience. You are not guaranteed back to the same tram (b/c the team might be reorg-ed to something else when you return) & FT experience vary greatly depending on your manager and team as the place is small. You might want to take this into consideration.
What’s the interview process like for full time? Will akuna hire industry people who just have Java/python backgrounds and not c++?
there are both c++ dev and python devs
Vote for google.
DM me, I’ve worked at FAANG, one of TS/JS/Citadel, and two of IMC/Optiver/Akuna/SIG/DRW
just talk here don’t be shy ☺️
Why did you leave hedge funds and trading shops ?
