hi all, Though my position is in data science but i have hardly worked on data science type work (proper python coding etc). i have worked on R, python for few projects but not extensively. also I am not good at coding too. inrely in stackoverflow for small codes too. since I worked for different clients hence my knowledge of business is not solid for one industry or path on which I can give interviews and take career forward. I have overall 6yoe. i just landed analyst job from Amazon. its kind of entry level job (level 5). I want to stay in data science field but with no coding skills I am not sure how to go forward. so should I take up analyst role or just try more in data science itself? also amazon is ready to do GC which my company wont for long term purposes. please advice.
Depends on if you want to make the switch to the business side. Staying on the development side gives horizontal mobility but is much harder to move up compared to taking the business side role, getting a business degree and starting to make the big bucks
@buttnpushr How do can I switch to business role without business degree?
That analyst role you described sounds like a business analytics one
Yeah not 100% sure though

Which is more prestigious, Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad or Harvard Business School?
If you have enough free time in your current job and life, you could stay put and read textbooks to understand ML theory and leetcode/ work on side coding projects/ open source projects.
If you don’t, I’d say take the amazon role as you’ll probably get at least exposure to high quality code bases probably
also, the benefit in reputation from amazon probably outweighs benefit in reputation from being able to say “data science” but being at your current company
