I quit my job 2 months ago and have been job searching since. I got an offer and then the job got canceled, which blows, but I'm still alive and will keep on goinnnn. Have interviewed at some of the FAANGs and a bunch of other companies (capital one was probably the most annoying of all) and so far have been coming close but no cigar. My conversion rate is something like: application to phone interview: 15% Phone interview - Next round: 90% Next round to final round: 20-30% though most of the time its been because of the roles being filled :/ Final round: zero i guess since the offer got pulled I primarily am in platform and data. YOE: 5 TC: 160k Strengths: I have very strong technical depth, my problem solving skills are top notch, great at forward planning and executing on or before deadlines set. I have strong communication and presentation skills, and I raise our performance vs KPIs across the board. Flaws: I talk, a lot at times. Most of the time I feel it is reasonable, whether it is discussing complexities or others, but when its a first impression (interview) it can be very bad. I want to convey my points and answers concisely, hard to do with screens vs in person. My skillset with applications varies and can be very deep, but the risk is that I am not a master of few but jack of all trades. Cute. That said, I have failed at a bunch of these interviews. Feedback has been typically warm but I think I need to improve my speech + answers. Steps I'm going to take: 1. Reach out to Placement firms, hopefully they can help! 2. Sign up for Exponent. I feel like it can get gimicky but I guess I need to improve that. 3. Try to apply to at least 5-10 roles a day. 4. Meditate and Exercise. I've slacked on the latter a lot and the former should help 5. Keep a log of all my applications and interviews At times, I want to completely give up. My whole life has been pretty damn tough (broke since birth, first college grad in the family, first "corporate" in my friend groups and family) but I refuse to give up. If anyone has any tips, advice, or anecdotes from your own job search, I'd be really grateful. Also if you know any recruiters/placement firms that are really good, please recommend! #pm #product #productmanager #techcareer
