Evaluating an exit into Amazon as L6 product manager (TC: $225K) after 1 year at BCG. I want to work in tech/fintech long term. Questions:
1) Is the work life balance better at Amazon, than BCG? Currently I'm averaging 70 hours a week. More than that, the pace is quite insane. Deliverables every couple of hours.
2) Another issue in Consulting is the real lack of mentorship/coaching. The Amazon manager seems to really emphasize that part, not sure if that's just this HM or if Amazon provides an easier ramp up? Getting onboarded during the pandemic was brutal at BCG.
3) Is the TC low? Their range was $195-250k. Given my current is $240k, I was hoping to push for $250k.

BCG employees are very talented and good folks, just fall victim to the business model. The perks (sick leave, vacation, benefits) are unparalleled.

This totally depends on the team and hiring manager. Amazon is so large there is a lot of variability. I came from consulting and an MBA and I enjoy the WLB and mentorship way more than consulting. I would ask around on blind to get the specific orgs reputation.

Thanks man. I'm new to Blind - how do I identify folks from the particular hiring team at amazon?

If you know the product area, just create a general post asking about the culture of that business.

You have to sift through all the SDEs bashing Amazon to get to the valuable nuggets.
