Checking out the community for coverage stats on visitor medical insurance coverage:
Many of you have family members and relatives visiting in the US... I buy visitor coverage for parents/in laws/others every time they visit us, just to be safe.
I have had multiple bad experiences with visitor insurance companies in the past... From my experience, they are worth nothing when someone really need to use it in an emergency... and are more of a headache than peace of mind.
Visitor insurance companies seem to use all kind of tactics to refuse claims - such as delaying the claims processing for many months, not paying doctor's office on time so they keep reminding you to pay, or provider flatly refusing to accept the insurance next time and insisting paying cash... just to name a few..
Talking from experience with various Atlas America, and IMG global patriot plans bought in the USA.
How was your experience if you or a family member have/had a visitor's insurance and they had to use it? Did they pay?
any experience you want to share?

I have heard they are brutal with pre-existing conditions though. One of my friend's FIL was treated coz of pre-existing conditions and they denied the claims multiple times before they accepted again.
And always buy US insurance providers. Most of the indian providers are not cashless or have less in-network hospitals. Also, always checkout if the hospital nearest to you is covered by the insurance u are going to buy.
