disney interview

does disney actually contact your employer during the interview process? Seems like a good reason to not bother interviewing with them. also what’s the expected tc for them from nyc location? current tc:95k yoe:2

Never heard of any company contacting your current employer. That would be beyond stupid.

Don’t know how to link on mobile but if you search “Disney Expedia” someone said Disney contacted their employer before making an offer.

I’ve had places request permission to contact my current employer, but they wouldn’t do it without asking first. I’ve also used my current manager as a reference. Obviously that was an unusual and very trusting situation where my manager was in the loop and my transition out was very gradual. I would not say either are typical of most of my transitions.

I don’t think so. I have not heard of that.

I joined not too long ago and they did not contact any of my previous managers. If you are afraid, just be up front during the phone conversation with the recruiter. There's nothing wrong with asking them not to contact your manager because you are still employed. Just always keep in mind that they (the recruiters) want to hire the right person as much as you want to join the right company. You have every right to question any doubt you have, either with the interview process, the team, the work, the culture, etc.
