New Yorkers, especially those in Manhattan, how much do you tip DoorDash/other food delivery drivers given that trips are typically only 5mins away?
I have also heard that DoorDash tips don't go to the driver unless it exceeds their base pay, so we should tip in cash. Is that still true?
How do you get small chunks of cash? Would the supermarket cashiers exchange your big notes for smaller notes for free if you ask?

If I ever tip, I do cash.
Now if a driver gets a guaranteed base pay of $3 for that same order, and someone trashy pays $0 tip, they only get $3. If someone gives $4 tip, then they make $7. The issue is that most people don’t tip so in some ways the original pay model was actually better. If you get 10 orders in a row where people don’t tip, you actually make less than before.
