what is meant by documenting - i suppose ur means outting things on email to save your back. however i also hear about documenting say poor behaviour, how does one do that. you can hardly send an email stating you sensed hostility in a certain meeting. does it mean making a note for yourself in this context? but what worth is the note, it does not prove anything. thank you.
It's worth it if you note the date, time, context, and participants. That trail can help identify a pattern. If needed, HR can ask participants to confirm the details of what happened.
2/14 John made a joke about blacks in the 10:30 crm meeting. Mentioning how he was hoping Costco had watermelon on sale to bring to the BHM celebration. He said “all those people like it”. That’s much better than complaining that John says “racist things”
As someone who works in HR I can back this answer. This format (a timeline of events) is exactly what is needed when writing up a termination report.
write down what each party said etc, in exact words.
You mean like in an email to yourself?
On confluence, in a mass email, in a doc, record slack convo, etc Ask for people to agree, write a ticket, or something to cya
