anyone been dinged by airbnb over the phone? had my onsite a week ago. not great, not a trainwreck - its a hypercompetitive opening so want to stay even-keeled and keep my expectations realistic. my recruiter emailed and wants to schedule a call with me in 2 days to catch up. that feels like an eternity so im trying to read the tea leaves so im prepared if its a rejection. i know other companies call to reject candidates, have experienced this myself, but i read somewhere that airbnbās policy was to reject candidates by email and then invite them to call back if they want to receive feedback. if so thats brilliant. i get the theoretical courtesy behind a call, but id much rather get the bad news over email first.
Yes
Probably you are a backup plan pending other interviews so they are keeping you around. If they were offering I canāt see why they would scheduled the call for two days out...
Jeez. It will be what it will be. Just live your life and donāt be attached to getting it OR losing it.
Yes, they do. I got a call after the in-house loop to tell me I was not getting an offer. Candidate experience in Airbnb is the best Iāve come across.
I was rejected over the phone from Airbnb after an email to ādiscuss next stepsā last month
Thatās purposefully rude.
The guy was very sincere over the phone. I think they want to make a good impression. This was not a good strategy.
I got this from the recruiter after the onsite: "I received an update from the team! Are you free to chat tomorrow?" I was sure it was going to be a rejection, but it turned out to be an offer. Don't read too much into it, it doesn't carry info.
thanks for the feedback. pretty sure this call isnāt an offer since i havenāt done the cultural fit interviews. arenāt those mandatory? in any case, good to know they reject over the phone and that at this point, i canāt rule out any outcome (much as iād like to)
That subject screams offer
Always be prepared for rejection.
In my experience if recruiter says "discuss feedback" then it's a know. "Next steps" then offer or more interviewees. Anything else then I don't know.
Yeah, I was wondering about that. My on-site was half a day ā the HM + people this role would be closely working with ā but no core value questions. Is that unusual?
Catch up? If he/she said catch up, it probably is either an offer, or they donāt know yet and just wanted to sync up on how youāre feeling
yeah, my recruiter emailed and said sheās looking forward to catching up. i donāt want to make too much about the wording though, she skews enthusiastic
Exact wording I had. Congrats š
