Title.
Just curious , not being entitled.
I have tried applying to positions that don't have any hard requirements in terms of experience or skills, But haven't heard back ever.i have currently 1.5 yoe.
Are they elitist and only interview people who are already in FAANG? Is there anything that I can do to increase my chances of getting an interview?

Nah. Don't think it's fang or non fang or anything. When it comes to resume screening my experience has been that applying on the company website is generally a black hole and you rarely hear back. And this applies to most big tech companies. Recruiters themselves reaching out to you or referrals are a better way to get started. The criteria that recruiters use to reach out to you might vary afaik. For example some might prefer fang candidates or certain schools or certain exp etc. Others conduct sourcing parties with team members which allows shortlisting folks better aligned with the team. Again this applies to any large tech company, not necessarily square. Hope it helps.
