Saleforce moron: No understanding of Growth companies. Lyft lost $600M with far far less global share. New CEO is amazing (unless you prefer TK?) which raises outlook greatly. Susan Fowler led to a ton of positive change culturally and comp-wise. A smart person would realize these are all positive events.
Uber person: SB's funding is part of G series i.e. zero dilution. They're using their incredible leverage ($10B large) to get an amazing deal (instant return). No other investor would be able to do this. In fact, they're not letting any other investor in on this. It's brilliant really. Kudos to them.
OP use your logic and it will serve you well. While everyone is running for the hills, you could get in when the valuation is beaten down and comp packages are high due to seller's market. Ride-sharing (and food delivery, self-driving) is here to stay. Uber is partnered with global leaders and will have enormous upside.
Or you can join Salesforce. Hear there's a great future there.
I would guess VMware = Apple > nvidia
However, as happy as I am with vmw performance this year, it has been a very uneven ride over the years, with emc nearly driving this business into the ground and investors taking a while to trust Dell's stewardship.
Whereas I think market growth of nvidia and Apple is a lock.
No one going to Uber needs to worry about the board selling the company for 30 pieces of silver.
