Is having Pinterest or Splunk on resume as good as having Google or Apple?

What is the ranking exactly of companies "good to have on resume" and make you more hire-able? Is FAANG unmatched in this regard, or are non-FAANG companies good also?

    FAANG > Pinterest > Splunk

Whatever makes you money and gives you more marketable skills.

If recipes for Moms opens up 10 other high tier opportunities because of the tech stack and scale you need to master, but security monitoring has like 3 players in the space, you want the former.

It’s a bit of a sad truth. Why a teachers TC is lower than a SWEs, when the teacher does far more important work.

Yeah what Google person said. We’re talking about company culture stack and money, not importance

I’m appalled by your “thinking” that Pinterest is better than Facebook, Google, Apple and yes Amazon too. They probably were many many years ago, not even remotely close to that in the last 3-4 years. Your team must be similar to your thinking, I’ll stay away.

    My preference would be

    Netflix > Pinterest > Facebook > Amazon ~ Apple > Google > Splunk

Reason being Splunk is niche company with limited scope.

Googlers are lazy af. Not good for fast moving startup space.

Apple has it’s very weird tech stack so less exit opportunities higher up you go.

Amazon AWS ample exits as aws is used massively and tech stack is awesome

Pinterest for better upside and they use AWS so transferable knowledge from Amazon

Netflix good pay , top of the line , AWS tech stack good for amazon engineers

Facebook awesome pay and quick promotions

If interview is LC heavy and not on actual skills . Googlers might perform better because they don’t even work , they just coast

Yeah but I think this thread is assessing how likely it is to get picked up from a stack of resumes. Afterwards, everyone knows it’s all about your actual engineering/coding ability

What you’re working on is more important than where you work. Where you’ve worked may get you easier to get interviews, but what you’ve worked on makes it easier to get the job.
