Accepting Offer then leave for better offer

Feb 6, 2020 31 Comments

I have a decent offer from a very good company but they want my answer soon. I have other on sites scheduled with amazon, google, facebook etc this month and next which will take some time to finalize. I may not get any offers at all after this.

I am on H1b. I hate my current job and desperately want to leave.

Here's my question: Since i am on H1b and if i accept the offer they will start the transfer process right away.

Can i leave this new company once my H1b gets transferred ?

If yes, then are there any implications of doing that other than ethical ones ?

Please advise. I HAVE to leave my current job !!

    So what's your question?
Are you saying you want to make this new company file your H1b in premium... Get it approved in next 45ish days (lawyer + USCIS) .. and then if by that time you get an offer from you dream company.. you want to say no and move there..? Yes you can and no one can stop you. Do what's best for you.

  • If you are that miserable, take the offer you have and stop interviewing with the others.

Delay acceptance and then again delay h1b documentation. Do whatever is best for you. Do remember that you might get blacklisted though

That blacklisting is bs that some recruiters use to scare you. I did something similar to two large companies last year when I got an offer from Google. 6 month later both companies' recruiters email me and cold call me if I want to interview again and they will even let me skip coding rounds.
Looks like everyone involved last time has moved on to new company or role. No one has a system to track this info. And even if you do get black listed.. a bird in hand is better than possibility of losing a bird in the bush maybe sometime in the future.

I did this 2 years back. You can accept any number of offers and ask all of them to start H1B process simultaneously. It does not matter. You can decide which one you will be joining.
