i have an offer from Lyft for a t4 level(QA), but its partly a manual testing role with some automation in it. Currently at ebay in a fulltime automation role. TC is not a big factor, so trying to get perspective on whats better for longterm. current tc - 230k, lyft tc - 250k Thanks!
Is this real?
I'd move to Lyft. More TC and more trendy industry. But manual testing is I'd assume the most boring thing in the world, so it's up to you.
Op is at eBay!
Definitely Lyft
Lyft is not as stable as eBay. Looks like TC is almost the same and the job responsibilities are less interesting. I would stay at eBay and look for something better.
You think eBay is stable? Most polls show eBay employees are most afraid of the next lay-off. Manual test can also be automated. You just need to know how.
eBay is not stable. Layoffs pretty much every year. Likely another one in Jan 2020. Not sure if that one will be company wide but folks in my org will be impacted.
My 2 cents is anything but eBay.
Lyft any day for the following reasons: 1. Learning at start up is immense. Even if you spend 2 years at Lyft you would have learnt a ton compared to eBay. This would help in the long run 2. You will solve hard problems at Lyft than at eBay.
I've heard most of the interesting problems have already been solved at Lyft. Similar to AirBnb
If Lyft is not interesting to you then how is eBay interesting? Think about ride share space deeply. There are just so many problem left to solved. Ride share industry has just started. At least do a 1:1 comparison of Lyft with Uber. Lyft is lagging behind by light years.
Startup definition is loose I agree. But you get the point.
I see you are going from Lyft of online marketplaces to eBay of rideshare marketplaces. 🤣
