Snap L4 offer evaluation

This is the offer I got for L4 in Seattle office

Base: 165k/year
Stock: 180k/year
Sign-on: 3.3k/year in equity
Bonus: 10% yearly
Misc expenses: 4.8k/year

New TC: 350k/year without bonus, 370k with bonus

I have offers around 320k from companies that I’m not planning to join; still have onsites with Meta, LinkedIn and Google. Do you think they would be able to match Snap for E4/L4? Or maybe I should just accept this?

YOE: 3.5
TC: 250k

  • It’s good , but 10% forced pip will add -100k/ y. Just search snap pip in blind and you will know. Don’t be fooled by snap hrs here

      The quota is FUD. It's basically what plldk said above: bottom 10% is reviewed and considered for PIP, but if you're on a team of strong performers (yourself included), you won't automatically be PIPing strong engineers.

      There are plenty of poor engineers to fill up that 10% as well

  • Take Meta, they can match if you include the refresh, and with the refresh, its more than Snap. Also Meta can promote quickly (4-5 in 2 ys). So normally after the 2nd year, Meta will be more than Snap for TC. In addition, Meta has no 10 % forced pip. If you are on Visa, I'd choose Meta. Google cant match, Linkedin can be around the same TC in first 4 ys, but they dont have refresh, huge cliff.

      Another Microsoft force pip quota - where do you even get this from? I swear ya'll salty because you can't get a job here.

      Also, get promoted to L5 in two years at Snap, and you'll be getting ~170k more per year... if it's that 'easy' at meta, everybody would be doing it..

    Snap’s offer is good or bad based on the date of joining. With that huge of a stock grant, you wanna get it a low price (feel now is a reasonable price). Congratulations on the offer

    That's a great offer for L4 and it's money right now. I'd rather have a solid offer off the bat instead of relying on maybe getting more money in 3-4 years... And even then all those companies will drop off after initial grant runs out. Snap has no dropoff. Only area of concern I see for Snap is the question mark around stock price. But even then it's monthly vesting and you can just leave if it tanks too hard.
