experience letter before leaving company post I-140

For moving after I-140, as far as i understand my perm needs to be filed again which means i would need the experience letter from my current manager. My transfer petition got approved today and I’m waiting to hear back from the lawyers on if they need another expericne letter. Don’t want to delay starting off the notice period (a relocation is involved). Not sure how my manger would react, so debating if i should i ask for a letter right away - these things become easy to ignore once you are not in sight.

If it was filed >180 days ago you do not need to refile perm. If not yes the process will need to be restarted.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, past the 180 days. So I do need the experience letter.

If 180 days are passes you need nothing from current employer. They will withdraw their petition but its approved so still valid. You only need letter from new employer when 485 interview scheduled and inform of position change

WRONG. You will have to go through the entire process again, perm and all. But sincr your I-140 is approved more than 180 days, you will preserve your PD in the queue.

I have gone thru the same process . With recent change, I140 can’t be withdrawn( only in special cases) . So employer won’t withdraw. Also the new employer shud file new PERM and start the process all over again and use the PD from old i140 when they file new i140. Most companies provide the experience letter once u submit ur resignation. U shud check with the employer HR not manager .

What are those "recent changes"?
