Uber in my experience (post ipo) is good WLB and overall low risk of fire (minus the covid layoffs where some low performers were first to chopping block). Other than that, I've seen at worst low performers being forced out to other teams but never seen a real PIP or fire.

Uber what about promo to timeline?

I hear positive stories about Uber promo
Timelines since Uber promotes from L4 to L5a in 2 years average

I would not say 2 years is average, but it is possible. Range of 2-3 years more reasonable. Totally dependent on the work you do. I have seen faster and slower and totally dependent on scope of projects you get to take on. Fortunately for the most part Uber still has many projects compared to a bigger company.

From the two folks I know at Stripe, apparently it's bad wlb and high chance to fire underperformers. I'm surprised to see Netflix under good wlb, I thought they went hard

Microsoft azure is not low fire risk. It is very team dependent. I worked in azure and had decent exp with one of the teams. Later i switched because that team suddenly became oncall heavy. New team was horrible and had unrealistic expectations. They politically managed me out.
