Currently in the process of interviewing with Deliveroo, Monzo and Skyscanner. Will be my first move into large tech companies having previously only worked for smaller startups so aiming at E4 level with aims to progress to E5 in the next year or two. All offering a ~70k base but no firm numbers as still in interview stage. Have seen really mixed feedback about all 3 companies and would be great to get any info about teams / culture / wlb Assuming no huge differences in TC, (Monzo may be higher but still waiting on numbers) what one would you go for? Current TC: 50k
Good luck, interested to hear how you get on. Remote or office? Any additional comp?
All Hybrid with ~2 days in office, expecting about 15k RSU and 10k bonuses hopefully
Can't help on those companies, TC looks reasonable for non tier1/propshop. Try for a decent bump with competing offers though.
Deliveroo for better WLB but 70k for 6 yoe is bit low. Do you know if the 70k includes RSU as well? If not you should ask for 85k which is max for their mid-level or >90k if this is senior level.
70 is just the base, actually expecting slightly higher base + 15k RSU per year Is 85k the max base salary do you know?
85k was max base salary for mid-level and on top of 85k they offered additional optional shares right before their IPO.
I heard about lot of layoffs in Deliveroo last year, not sure if they are still doing that
I think since Amazon funding things are looking better, that’s what I’ve heard anyway
Not anymore, it was one time thing and none of middle level or seniors were impacted by it. Mostly were juniors, managers and some of people team and facilities. Used to work there for long time, have some friends who work there
OP what kind of interview structure all of these companies have for SWE?
Monzo hasn't yet figured out how to make money and they are in a cutthroat business of servicing retail accounts of people with little money.
Skyscanner has reset during pandemic and emerged sharper focussed while keeping wlb and transparent culture it has always been famous for. Would recommend.
What's your YOE ?
6 years but all been in small companies
I think you should atleast ask around 90k.
