Situation: STEM expires May 2022, Applying GC via Marriage in April 2022.

Role: Non-Tech PM

If H1B doesn’t packed picked, my team has helped plan a contingency for Canada. I am a bit confused Among few options here:

Option 1: H1B doesn’t get picked, move to Canada.

Option 2: Convert to Day 1 CPT, and continue with Amazon

Option 3: Take Unpaid Vacation until GC EAD is approved in 3-5 Months

What makes more sense, and are Day1 CPT or Unpaid vacation valid options that Amazon allows or has someone looked at these situations?

Shouldn’t you be afraid of a pip in between all this if you take a leave and wait for GC EAD. Do the Canada or Day 1 CPT seems safest.

Canada and Day 1 will be through my team only. We’ve created a req within the team. I’m the longest tenured in my team so team is pretty supportive of all options as long as I plan to come back in less than 6 Months.
If I go for Canada, my GC via Marriage would get delayed, so seeking understanding of different options

If this was any other company I would have said unpaid level with Amazon im always afraid. That leave will also let you recharge a bit and maybe have fun in your marriage. You could consider a 3 month remote or something also if you would want

Day1 CPT "MAY" have long term negative issues. Since you can get gc before facing any of those, best to get Day1 CPT.
