I'm an upcoming new grad trying to decide if I want to work at Lululemon as a software engineer in Seattle. I couldn't find many reviews of the software/tech side of Lululemon and was hoping to find some insight from Blind. You don't have to be from the Seattle office specifically, but if you are it'd be awesome to hear from you! What is the TC like? What are the benefits like besides the discount? WLB? What types of projects do you work on? What is your general opinion about working here and would you reccomend it? As of currently, I'm not entirely sure where in tech I'd like to work (i.e. fintech, e-ccomerce, software, etc.) But, I would like to explore my options. Will working at Lululemon as a SWE help me build experience to work for more facets of the tech industry or will I be limiting myself to e-commerce/fashion tech only? Thank you! Did you ever find more info on this? Also what discount are you talking about?
Nope, still waiting on some insight but haven't learned much. And for the discount employees get a discount for online and in-store purchases.
Why wouldn't you start in FAANG? / At least try to go for it? It's so easy to jump around within the given FAANG into various departments and learn various things. After a few years in FAANG your brand is strong and you can go almost anywhere.
I've been applying for FAANG since my sophomore year with no success. I've cold emailed, gone to networking events, and tried to better my resume in the meantime but I've never gotten past the resume screen. At this point I've given up on trying for a new grad role in FAANG since I'm graduating soon. I don't come from a target school and I'd rather apply for places that might consider me rather than ones that will put me in "under consideration" purgatory :( tldr; If FAANG would take me in, I'd go for it in a heartbeat. But, time is money and I need to find a decent paying job to help out my parents and betting on FAANG isn't going to get me there anytime soon.
Sorry to hear! And what do you think about some promising startups in crypto / Fintech / health / some of the hot topics currently? There are some crypto startups that do really well and definitely hire non-faang folks and a lot of them are profitable hence they pay well.
