Recruiter from Slalom reached out to me regarding a customer experience strategist role. Any insight on working for Slalom in this type of role? Comp, benefits, culture, etc. Thanks!

Any company built on billable hours is a sweat shop. What’s the job after slalom?

It completely depends on what market you are in and your project role. Generally speaking, the compensation sucks. You will only need to work 40 hours per week as the firm normally does a good job of keeping work/life balance in mind when projects are scoped. People are generally nice and most people are quite smart. There is no career development - a lot of our turnover is driven by folks feeling like they have no room to grow.

Base compensation maybe, but benefits are lacking and there is no "stock" unless you're invited to buy-in. In terms of total compensation I'm about 50k lower than my peers in industry even though my base is somewhat comparable. Where you see entrepreneurial I see political. Perhaps it is a difference between our markets and service lines.

We are lower than big 4 but yeah that changes after stock, bonuses, etc. Also benefits are pretty good but yeah some things need an update, our new chief ppl officer has big plans and we should see those changes in 2020.
