Grafana Labs, information request

I’d like to hear how the job looks like from inside, especially the fully remote. Tech stack (tho, I can mostly figure this out from outside too), WLB, interviews (process, difficulty - comments from people who didn’t pass or didn’t accept the offer are welcome too), salary ranges. Stuff like this.

Edit: median tenure as reported by LinkedIn Insights is 1 year, which is concerning. Keep in mind tho, this is for the entire company, and engineering is reported to be 45% of all employees, while sales is 18%, IT is 7% and HR is 5%.

Thanks!

  • from Grafana Labs here. not sure if this is too late to comment. WLB is amazing. less meetings and genuine humble folks willing to invest in you and your growth. Didn't find a***hole rockstars because we filter folks like these in the hiring rounds altogether. Salary can be okay. Tech stack is a lot of GCP + GoLang + K8s and room for a lot of improvement. There is an opinion towards not adopting microservices but people are willing to talk, discuss and then decide on going monolith or microservices.

I did an interview with them in the last year. The coding challenge for me was very hard but well designed if you were probably experienced with leetcode, time series normalization stuff in Go. Not easy (to me). I think it would have been a good fit but I didn't pass the system design interview right and give myself a chance to show my strength (got knocked on an area I'm pretty strong on and realized I need system design interview practice. It was my first one)

Despite that I get that they have lots of applicants so no hard feelings and the interviewers were very respectful and didn't make me feel any negative vibes. Overall a good interviewing experience. I did a little outreach on the salaries as well and found the same answer that the pay band range was pretty wide so it was hard to nail down.

  • It's kind of a startup. A company that can double in size in one year is going to have a very low median tenure.

The mentions are broken 😞. I selected Grafana Labs and it appears as “New…”.
