hey, facebook friends. I received an M1 offer and thinking about joining, but the pip stories are concerning. - Have people seen M1 piped? - What have they done that caused it? - What was the timeframe to pip? current TC: ~$450 fb TC: ~$540
What's the breakdown of the offer?
YOE?
I have had my friend piped out in 3 months. Don’t leave your less beautiful wife for a pretty and psychotic girl friend
Expectations are high. Fuck up and sometimes you're sent packing without a PIP.
Any examples?
Why are people worried about a pip?
It's bad especially people on H1b work visa. If you get 3 months PiP then you will have to interview, get a job, do a H1b transfer all within 3 months. Very stressful of high possibility of having to leave US. Gets worse if you have friends and family. Need more explanation?
Yes because that isn't what a pip is... a pip is a performance improvement plan. If you fail it you might be fired and then have those problems, is that what you are referring to? If so most people who are fired aren't on a pip...
It really depends on your manager. Try to get a good one.
This seems like a bad risk/return value proposition. Basically, you’re evaluating an offer that may be a pressure cooker for an extra 90K... that’s 20% of your current TC. Really? Is there another more relevant driving factor here?
When you’re worried about getting fucked, you’ll definitely get fucked. Stay where you are. $90k extra, after taxes may be $45k, is not worth it. Rest and vest in $ORCL. People get PIP’ed for “culture-fit” reasons. If you don’t fit the profile of your manager and higher ups, you’ll get fucked even if you’re competent at some level.
I’m in OCI. There is no resting and vesting here. Bad wlb as is + desire to try something new
