Hey folks, my first day at Facebook London is almost arrived and, while I’m aware of the bootcamp process, I wanted to ask you how do you get assigned to a specific team? There is one team in London I’d really love to join, is there any chance I can somehow express my preference for it? Will I get to choose which teams I’ll work with before a decision is made? How does the process work? Any general advice :)?

Sorry for the amount of questions :)
Thanks all!

You will find out in due time :) Everything will be explained to you by your mentor and through onboarding material.

The process is pretty well organised and designed to be fair. It’s unlikely that you will be allowed to graduate until week 5 anyway, so there’s no rush.

Unfortunately in a remote environment there’s a lot less interaction with others but you will still have opportunities to meet fellow bootcampers (virtually).

Good luck and enjoy the bootcamp!

How do you know what teams are in London? Do you have any idea of other teams in London (girlfriend also joining in two weeks)?

You cannot commit to any team before the end of week 4

      OP
The one using Haskell on their anti-spam system. I don’t know much more to be honest, but I’d be super keen to work with Haskell at FB

Thanks for the answer btw :)

    • Whatsapp uses Haskell for some of their backend. Pretty sure more than one team use Haskell though.

When you join, try to assign to yourself tasks from this team or any you are interested in. If there is none reach the manager or dev to have a talk and ask for a task to do. Ask if they have headcount for your lvl
