Wanted to know whether all the Blind reviews were an accurate depiction of what's going on...Anyone happy at Cisco? If you are can you explain what's been great over there?

In general Cisco is bad. Reason is tones of Indians and Chinese hiring their own relatives and friends and hacking the shit out of it. Upper management is toxic and political. Some teams are sweat shops while others are slow and ready to be Bangalored. Salaries are not competitive for engineering while upper management makes millions.

Looks like you missed my comment on me moving to a different company and my story for staying is not WLB but related to immigration. I am talking about what folks on average at Cisco look for.

Blind cisco channel poll results report shows 71% love being@cisco, sample size around 350. For vent app like blind it was one of the rare positive poll that I saw. I like it as well. On the otherhand work and salaries depends upon Bu-2-Bu

Count me happy. Don't make anywhere near the crazy numbers that get posted around here. But definitely don't regret spending time here.

Cisco is a big place, so there's a wide spectrum of possible experiences.

Cisco is a good place to try out retirement or to explore the depths of human mediocrity. It’s a terrible place to build skills that will help you in the future.

If you’re older, and cisco trends older, most of the BUs are easy going. Expectations are low because the quality of the employees is low. The big business trends are not a thing you can do something about and most - not all - of the BUs have good customer control. The company is bleeding more in some areas (data center, service provider) than others (enterprise) but there’s just so much dead wood to toss overboard that if you are so much as even modestly productive you cAn last a long time.

As a brand name cisco looks bad on your resume, and no matter what your mediocre coworkers think the company does not use modern technologies except in very small, limited groups or groups like Meraki that have done everything possible to keep the mediocres out.

If you have a medical issue, want to take leave, like watching Bollywood or Cricket during the day or otherwise just aren’t in the place in life where working is a priority, cisco is a great place.

If you are young, though, get the fuck out. Go somewhere where you won’t be permanently damaged by the old folks home that is cisco.
