Cisco is a big place, so there's a wide spectrum of possible experiences.
If you’re older, and cisco trends older, most of the BUs are easy going. Expectations are low because the quality of the employees is low. The big business trends are not a thing you can do something about and most - not all - of the BUs have good customer control. The company is bleeding more in some areas (data center, service provider) than others (enterprise) but there’s just so much dead wood to toss overboard that if you are so much as even modestly productive you cAn last a long time.
As a brand name cisco looks bad on your resume, and no matter what your mediocre coworkers think the company does not use modern technologies except in very small, limited groups or groups like Meraki that have done everything possible to keep the mediocres out.
If you have a medical issue, want to take leave, like watching Bollywood or Cricket during the day or otherwise just aren’t in the place in life where working is a priority, cisco is a great place.
If you are young, though, get the fuck out. Go somewhere where you won’t be permanently damaged by the old folks home that is cisco.
