I want to move to a QR role at a small fund. I don’t have a PhD, which is why I’ll be attacking smaller funds.

Other than leetcode and practical guide to quantitative finance any tips? Will start applying in a few months.

Quite a lot of big names routinely hire QR’s with math/stats undergrads. Small funds in fact might be tougher due to a smaller headcount and therefore them requiring someone with more credentials and possibly related to experience as well.

As a pushback to this, despite having a math background from an Ivy, headhunters try to bottleneck me into SWE / quant-SWE roles that I have no interest in. Any suggestions for getting around this?

If you are a SWE then headhunters will always restrict you to those roles.
