Been reading a lot from the Glassdoor and other posts here about Plaid coding rounds. Majority of them have experience of solving the problem but not making through. Can someone from Plaid or who have interviewed tell what they are looking for or what are the expectations? I’m familiar with their Spikey process. But want to know about the live coding rounds. Asking for some prep. Genuinely interested in working for them but need some help before scheduling.

Available information is not helping. Any info would be appreciated.

Most questions have multiple parts, just because you get by in one part doesn’t mean you did well. That is why most people think they have solved the problem but fail. We also try our best to make the candidate feel good about the process even if they don’t perform, so it’s common for candidates to think they did well but not pass the interview.

If anything, just try to communicate a lot, ask for feedback and don’t waste time on sidetracking so you have time to finish everything. I fail almost everyone who goes straight into coding and sidetracks and not ask for feedback.

    Good luck with your interview!

If I finished 2/3 parts with the correct solution (ran out of time for the third), is that a bad sign?

  • I interviewed for a senior data engineer position and made it to the on-site several weeks ago. From what I know, they offer the same technical assessment which is 1 hr project deep dive and 1 hr coding round to all engineers. Then the on-site which was 3 hours might be tailored for the position because I got a lot of data system design questions.

Got it. Hope the criteria to judge the all rounds are same . Have heard they look for “spikes”.

Thanks for replying. Do you also know whether multi threading knowledge is also required?

Well based on my own research I don’t think multi threading was ever asked or anyone ever mentioned . My experience not needed.
