I find this absolutely insane and scary. Thought police, LinkedIn? Seriously?

Anyways, don't conflate scientists updating their theories after better data was available.

This has nothing to do with opinions. Questioning science is one thing, if you provide the data to support your claim. Questioning science without any data just because you disagree with the conclusions is different.

You should be blocked for spreading false information. Everyone has a responsibility of keeping social media clean of biases.

Now you are claiming censorship on people that were writing opinionated pieces without backing data on lockdowns. Next thing you'll be complaining about people being blocked because they are writing opinionated pieces without backing data claiming Jews and Black are an inferior race. We all know where this is going to end.

Just shut up if you don't have anything to contribute. You really don't have to speak if you don't have anything to say. Until you do, listen.

  • People with the truth, science and data on their side need to censor the opposition.
Are you a Trump supporter op?

@Microsoft - Here's just one example of a peer reviewed paper from the Harvard School of Public health, in one of the most well-respected journals on earth.

Scientific research (including disproving theories of other scientists) involves an objectively-verifiable hypothesis, a clear and repeatable procedure for gathering data, and analysis of said data.

Posting a random theory on social media is not part of this. Archimedes and Galileo did a lot of theorizing, gathering of data, trying again and again, before publishing their conclusions.

Now it's your turn. Show me your scientific proof

  • Our Leadership has made it clear that they will censor posts that don’t align with LinkedIn’s values or what’s seen as misinformation.

Whether or not you agree with it doesn’t matter. It’s not the public square. LinkedIn can regulate whatever it feels will affect its revenue or brand.

Section 230 is not a paradox - it provides a defense in case of a lawsuit. As I understand, if nobody is bringing lawsuits then there is no need to invoke it.

When such a lawsuit will be brought against any social media company engaged in censorship and it will go to trial (i.e. won't settle) and they will try to use the section 230 defense then it could be argued that it does not apply because of censorship and what not. Or, it could be that the courts will rule that it's okay to censor if you feel like it and still keep 230 protections. Either way, we don't know if it applies now since it had not been tried.

@rambo I believe the company knows it's not legally responsible for user generated content (230), but chooses to act. The company has an editorial voice: "professional" and this doesn't fit.

This isn't a free speech zone, and it isn't the public square. If someone posts 💣 schematics, their account will be blocked. If someone posts porn, they'll probably be blocked too

IMHO LinkedIn need to ban all posts that make LinkedIn sound like Facebook. It's already hard to recognize one from the other because of the similarities.

I agree with @Facebook. Unfortunately every thing small and big is made political in America. Imagine something as simple as wearing a mask becoming political? Like come on, it's not even like asking you to stay in your house it's just a piece of cloth to reduce the unnecessary spread of a virus. You can claim that it's not a big deal since it is not a killing a lot of people(it is killing a lot of people, but let's just assume that it's not for a second), but why would you want to make anyone sick? Like even if it's just a stranger passing by? Even if there is a 1% chance that you can protect somebody from having a few bad days it's worth sacrificing flaunting your face.
As an outsider, maybe I can understand politicizing stay at home orders but I will never understand politicizing masks. It's just stupid and dumb.

Gross. Lots of censorship right now. Lockdowns are fair topics for debate and discussion. Shame on any tech company who is locking down debate and discussion.
