a recruiter at Uber emailed me after an internal referral and sent me a link to a scheduling app to set up an interview. i did, and then emailed them to confirm the time. they said they were looking forward to it. that day/time comes, no call. no message about rescheduling. no "sorry we took another look at your resume and it doesn't look like we have a good role fit for you at this time." nothing. emailed them twice. nothing. haven't heard from them since. I don't mind delays, rescheduling, or even rejection. But to straight up ghost candidates with no messaging at all is embarrassing. This isn't tinder. Get your shit together.
Ask your referrer to reach out via internal chat
Probably says more about the recruiter than Uber, but despite Dara's good efforts, Uber still seems to be entrenched in Travis fandom.
Uber recruiters suck. All the engineers hate them.
Define all. Mine hooked me up real nice and now I’m paper rich. Gonna buy him something for Xmas
Cruise > Uber
I've heard of lots of snafus with this recently. Follow up with the recruiter and hiring manger if you know who that is (reach out on linked in.)
similar experience. never encountered anything like it in terms of incompetence or disregard for normal social custom. delays, last-minute reschedules, and refusal to answer email concerning status of previously agreed actions. had referral from senior engineer who I respect a lot. he says work/environment is excellent and I had Uber near top of list. that was two months back and yet to speak with relevant hiring manager. meanwhile wrapping up or done at 3 fang + 2 startups. emailed a week ago to check in, no response
Ask the engineer to ask another recruiter?
Based on my personal experience, Uber recruiters are the worst.
Opposite experience, recruiter was very prompt in scheduling phone interview , I asked to give like a couple of Months for the onsite , which they agreed to and scheduled the onsite just a day after I reached out again to them . Overall I would say they are hiring heavily so all recruiters are under lot of work load , but give it some time
True that
There’s cases to be made either way. FWIW - recruiters here are incredibly overworked (and underpaid). Due to the sheer workload a lot of candidates fall through the cracks. If you’ve reached out twice try another recruiter on LinkedIn or leverage you’re referral.
My technical interviewer didn't call at all (Uber). Next day recruiter email me saying that they messed up schedule and I had to take interview in 30 minutes. Well that is how "failed" my phone screening for the first time. Maybe I dodged a bullet.
