BCG vs Amazon
I know these are very different companies but I am trying to decide between which one is better to work for.
TC, YOE, role?

BCG in your profile depending on your domain you could move up the ladder easily within as well as in industry
One you get to tell people what to do without actually doing it. One you get the chance to play PIP roulette. What is best for you?
Pip is really common in Amazon
There are so many variables and you need to give more info: Are you in general management , product management or SWE? Are you pre or post MBA? Are you interested in Cloud technologies? Both companies are horrendous for WLB. Both are good brands to have on your resume. AWS tends to PIP hard and work their people. BCG also has an up or out culture. They help those exiting get placed in exciting opportunities.
I don't know anything about BCG but liked my time at AWS. If you get on a decent team and work hard, it's not as bad as people on blind make it seem. AWS on resume will open more doors than consulting Consulting is also pretty terrible. I was put in positions where the client knew more about what I was consulting on than I did but the firm sold themselves as if we were all experts. One time I was on a project with a technology I had never used before and I walk in to a meeting and project manager was like "this is our ______ expert." Consulting is all bullshitting.
May be you got lucky But Amazon = PIP
Let's say that the 5-10% was true.... You don't have to be the best, just don't be the worst. Realistically, PIPs are a symptom on a bigger problem at Amazon... Broken hiring process. PIP is just the bandaid they put on things because low performers slide through. Also, if not in visa, pip roulette isn't that bad since worst case you get 3 months paid vacation(severance)

If you like to advise people with no expertise, want to spend your time on pointless excel and slides - BCG If you want to build things for people to use and value ownership - Amazon Source: worked at both
