so im in sales. been in sales for almost two years. and im pretty darn good at it too. but ive been trying to leave it and im having difficulty finding opportunities that will take a chance on me (im looking at customer success/entry level product roles/operations roles). i feel like ive hit a wall in terms of my career, especially since i do want to get an mba eventually. what should i do? bootcamp and getting a masters are kind of out of the question.
I’ve seen sales people who understand the business side get into product marketing, product management, and customer success after a few more years experience. Truth is if you’re actually good at sales you’re not going to make as much money in any other role. I think it’s interesting you say you’re hitting a wall in sales when that’s one of the few roles with virtually unlimited ceiling for high performers.
It sounds cliche but I don’t care too much about the money. I want to shift into something that actually uses my brain and doesn’t feel like I can do with my eyes closed. Pretty pretentious I know but I think all those positions you mentioned are perfect for me and what I’m looking for.
Are you an SDR/inside rep or do you actually close deals?
People go to MBA to get into sales. You are in sales and you want to go to MBA to get out? Which part of your sales job that you don't like?
I’ve rarely heard of people getting an mba to get into sales. I want to get an mba to get into product management eventually VC. It’s a grind, it’s repetitive, and doesn’t allow me to use my brain or creativity. I want to work with numbers and people in teams and create solutions.

Which one do you think will see india grow faster in next 50 years - India democracy or autocracy( with BJP) in power?
What does "(not) take a chance" mean? Applying and being rejected? Classic options: A) internal transfer, usually starting with some internal rotation opportunity or "side gig" B) MBA, you said "eventually" but why not now?
I’ve looked into internal transfers but I get pushback from management. There’s also not much headcount in what I want to do so I’m sort of just biding my time. In terms of getting an MBA, I’m a few years away of getting the work experience I need to get into the program I want
