have a phone interview with google recruiter tomorrow for a nontech finance role. any advice how to not get stuck at this stage. feel confident that if i make it to the actual interviews, i can make thw cut. any advice is apprwciated
I disagree with uDJT. This depends on the level. The more senior roles’ recruiters are more educated about the position and can dig in on both questions and provide better answers. uDJT is probably right for the more junior roles.
This is probably an L4/5 role
Just be yourself, be respectful, and be honest with the recruiter. Is this your first time interviewing with a big company?
No, currently working for Uber and have worked for HPE in the last. First time interviewing with Google though
It's basically just the same as any other recruiter initial call. They want to find out how far along are you in the interview process with other companies, what kind of skills you have, and what kind of projects you want to work on. Also, your visa status. Very standard stuff.
I had one last month. Seemed pretty basic. She said she would share my profile to see if there were any team matches and would get back to me a week later. There weren’t any. Better luck to you though.
Show confidence. Practice your pitch line. They do not know anything about the position either but if you sound confident about it they will perceive it. Also ask, questions! Ask him /her about how is this position is different/similar to other roles at google and at other companies ...
