Tim Cook is the Steve Ballmer of Apple. He needs to resign.
It really doesn’t matter if these products existed before, but they were executed with a finesse that other products didn’t have.
You said products like AirPods existed before. Tell me something that
- was as easy to pair with multiple devices as airpods
- had a slick charging case like the airpods
- had an easy and native management interface like airpods
- the same small (earbuds) form factor with no wires as airpods
- had the brand appeal, recognition and marketing that comes with Apple products
Such a product requires innovation across cross-functional areas such as:
- developing custom silicon
- having good hardware software integration and the wireless stack
- good overall product design
- marketing and branding to generate mass appeal
- an existing reputation that apple already has
I call that innovative...
Edit: I forgot the ‘courage’ to remove the headphone jack 😉
The new pros might be better in terms of overall sound quality & features but again, you can't say a company is super innovative if they just improved on something out there.
There were several small factors wireless buds before the pods. What are you even talking about? Yes, they developed a good product now but they didn't invent the idea behind it.
If they come out & develop a new product that's not already out there or completely change the game on some product, then that's called innovation.
