Apple hasn’t had any new innovative ideas since Steve Jobs died.

Tim Cook is the Steve Ballmer of Apple. He needs to resign.

Above conversation labelling Apple as not innovative. Their chipsets enable a lot of innovation and set them apart.

It really doesn’t matter if these products existed before, but they were executed with a finesse that other products didn’t have.

You said products like AirPods existed before. Tell me something that
      - was as easy to pair with multiple devices as airpods
      - had a slick charging case like the airpods
      - had an easy and native management interface like airpods
      - the same small (earbuds) form factor with no wires as airpods
      - had the brand appeal, recognition and marketing that comes with Apple products

Such a product requires innovation across cross-functional areas such as:
      - developing custom silicon
      - having good hardware software integration and the wireless stack
      - good overall product design
      - marketing and branding to generate mass appeal
      - an existing reputation that apple already has

      I call that innovative...

Edit: I forgot the ‘courage’ to remove the headphone jack 😉

Your average customer doesn't care about any of these things apart from the brand. How often do you go around pairing things? If you pair something more than once, you're not using it correctly. Technically speaking, their silicon is amazing but you think your average Joe cares about it?

The new pros might be better in terms of overall sound quality & features but again, you can't say a company is super innovative if they just improved on something out there.

There were several small factors wireless buds before the pods. What are you even talking about? Yes, they developed a good product now but they didn't invent the idea behind it.

If they come out & develop a new product that's not already out there or completely change the game on some product, then that's called innovation.

3blind - you really think apple gives 2 hoots about public perception of it's stock price? And people who know basic math think in %ages and not absolutes

Market valution is also a game of public perception. And I bet your avg Robinhood investor will think that 100$ is cheaper than 400$ and that 80$ looks better than 320. %ages have to be put in context tho.
